A VERY IMPORTANT PUBLIC MEETING IS PLANNED FOR EVERYONE REGARDING PROPOSED CHANGES TO FRUITVILLE ROAD.
IF YOU ARE CONCERNED ABOUT THE TRAFFIC SITUATION TO THE ISLAND, THE LKRA BOARD URGES YOU TO ATTEND.
YOUR INPUT IS NEEDED BEFORE CHANGES ARE MADE TO FRUITVILLE ROAD
THAT MAY IMPACT OUR ABILITY TO GET ON AND OFF THE LIDO KEY.

Sarasota, FL: The public is invited to attend a community meeting on Tuesday, March 1 to learn about possible enhancements to Fruitville Road (between U.S. 301 and U.S. 41) and to provide input. The meeting will be held from 5:30 p.m. – 7 p.m. in the Commission Chambers at City Hall, 1565 First Street.
A significant gateway into the city limits and downtown business district, Fruitville Road currently conveys the character of a suburban thoroughfare. The proposed Fruitville Road Streetscape Enhancement project would modify the road so that it would more closely reflect an urban boulevard.
The goal is to slow down traffic along Fruitville Road (between U.S. 301 and U.S. 41) without negatively impacting the current rate of service, while boosting pedestrian connectivity between downtown and the nearby Gillespie Park and Rosemary District neighborhoods.
During the community meeting, existing conditions along Fruitville Road will be discussed. Also, possible modifications will be reviewed including travel lane width, parking, sidewalks, bicycle lanes, turning lanes, and landscaping.
